Self-Confidence: March 2021

We all begin our faith journey by putting our trust in God. For some of us, we believe in God, but have a hard time believing in ourselves. We know that God can do amazing miracles, but sometimes we question whether God could use “someone like me.” But one message the Bible says loud and clear is that God can use anybody! That’s why this month we are talking all about godly self-confidence. We are defining this kind of self confidence as:

Self-confidence: Believing that I am valuable enough to take action.

Kuzvitemba: Kutenda kuti ndakafanira uye ndinozvigona.

With start the month with a story of some brave women from Numbers 27. We will talk about the importance of speaking up when we feel something is wrong. Five brave women go and plead their case before Moses, even though what they are saying goes against their culture.

In the story of The Call of Moses, we will learn that our weakness don’t put a limit on what God can do through us.  Moses didn’t speak well, but God used him as a messenger anyway!

From Jesus’ teaching in The Sermon on the Mount, we explain how children should handle worry and anxiety. By remembering how much God cares about us, we can stop worrying and focus on taking our next steps.

Finally, in the story of Peter’s Denial of Jesus, we learn that we can have confidence because no matter how much we’ve messed up, God can forgive us. After Peter denies Jesus, not only does Jesus give him forgiveness, Jesus offers Peter his job back! Peter learns that Jesus still thinks he is the right person to lead the church.

We hope this month at your school, your church, and in your family you have some great conversations on self-confidence. Let’s all take to heart our memory verse for this month:

“So let us boldly approach the throne of grace. Then we will receive mercy. We will find grace to help us when we need it.” (Hebrews 4:16, NIrV)
