New Board!

The minister stood up and announced, “There will be meeting of the board after the service.” A visitor walked into the board room and took a seat at the head of the table. The minister is confused and asked, “Uhm, can I help you sir, what are you doing here?” The man responds, “Well, you said there was a meeting of the bored after church, and I don’ think there was a person more bored in the service than me!”

In all seriousness though, we are so excited to welcome members of our Zimbabwean board to Eudo! As you’ll see below, they come from variety of backgrounds and disciplines, but the one thing they all have in common is a commitment to make the greatest possible impact on the next generation. It is vital that our team have voices from many different denominations in order for Eudo to operate in public schools. All members of our leadership team affirm our statement of beliefs.

Meet the members of the Executive Committee

Reverend Never Chibangu

Reverend Chibangu has been worked in ministry since 1993, and currently serves as a military chaplain serving with Zimbabwe’s armed forces. He is ordained as part of the Baptist Convention of Zimbabwe and preaches weekly at a congregation in Cowbrey Park in Bulawayo. As a chaplain, he works with my young families and is passionate to see better resources put into the hands of teachers and parents.

Simbarashe Gwara

Mr. Gwara is the headmaster at Ratidzo Primary School, which is located here. Mr. Gwara is passionate about education and helping all the children at his school thrive, regardless of their background. Despite the many economic challenges and the having school fees less than $15 per month, Ratidzo Primary has consistently had a pass rate that is over double the national average. Mr. Gwara not only is a passionate teacher himself, but inspires greatness out of his other teachers on staff.

Bishop Shakespear Tele

Bishop Tele is this year’s principle director for the General Council Assemblies of God in Zimbabwe. He has served on many boards and initiatives and brings a wealth of experience and passion to our team.

Program at Hope Primary & Matshetshe Primary

Thank you to Martha and Ezra Prescott and their work at Hope Primary School! They invited the Eudo team to come out at the end of first term 2022 for lessons, games, and music! We spent the afternoon teaching kids lessons from the Bible and teaching some of our new music. We are excited to go back in second term!

It was also great to go back to Matshetshe Primary and see the kid again. This term has been crazy with lockdowns and teachers strike. By the end of term things seem to have settled back down.

Rooted Program Update

We want to thank all those who supported our Rooted program and have put Bibles in the hands of new Christians. Students in grade 6 and 7 who have made a decision to follow Jesus have the opportunity to ‘earn’ a Bible by memorizing 7 verses. When they recite these verses to their teachers or members of our Eudo team it is a great opportunity to talk about what it means to follow Jesus. In these pictures Bibles are being given out at Dapi-Tapi Primary School and Gaba Primary Schools

Bulawayo, Here We Come!

This is from our recent update. View the whole update here.

Big things are happening here at Eudo! Schools nationwide have lifted lockdown, and we are back on tour encouraging teachers and students in person! We have a fully booked schedule over the next few weeks and an upcoming teacher training workshop. Please be praying that God uses our Eudo Team to bring a strong message of hope and encouragement, especially to the teachers as they help students, some of whom have not seen a classroom or read a book since March 2020.

Last November we launched Eudo into Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe. God opened the doors wide, and we are now in eight churches there, with many schools also interested in our resources and program! Every week we get messages from local church volunteers who are grateful for relevant materials that are easy to use.

With the recent success in Bulawayo and as a strategic location for growth, we are moving our base (and family) there. The local partnership in Bulawayo has been exciting, especially with Pastor Jeff Scorziell and Bulawayo Baptist Church. We will soon be able to outsource our printing (saving time and printer maintenance!) and continue to spread throughout the many churches and schools in that area. Please pray for us during this wonderful transition. Trevor Chidodo will head the work in Chiredzi and we will continue to minister in both locations. Stay tuned for details on the move! If all goes as planned we will move in May! (That date could be bumped a couple of weeks, depending on the transition to our new house.)

Nathan Reveals Secrets of the Universe

The Lawsons are coming up on our one year anniversary in Zimbabwe this December! Moving a family of 8 across the world has had  plenty of challenges. We have seen God’s hand at work each month in more ways than we could count. He who “began a good work in us” is being so faithful to provide everything that we need, every.single.day. Our Eudo training team just added our fifth school, Chishamiso Primary School. We are so thankful to the teachers making room in their busy schedules to walk through how to use Eudo resources at their school. During the presentation, Mrs. Kwari, the headmistress of the school, was willing to come forward and be part of a skit. We are thankful for the school’s warm welcome and look forward to partnering together to help raise up the next generation.
